There’s plenty of summer left! I’ve been clinging to this mantra for a while now. Just a few days ago, Hjerte and I were on the beach. The water temperature was still 21 degrees and the future looked bright. August is a SUMMER month (!) I hiss to anyone who tries to suggest that it’s time to dig out the woolen jumpers and underwear. But here they are already; the days with the cold draft in the air. The floor feels cold against my feet in the mornings. My mantra…

Hit me baby, one more time!
A dear colleague mentioned that the Norwegian word for trust (TILLIT) is the best palindrome, as it gives best results when it goes both ways. (A palindrome is a word, phrase, number, or other sequence of characters which reads the same backward as forward, such as madam or racecar. – Wikipedia) When super-boxer Grethe hits me in the stomatch, a certain degree of trust is involved. At least when I´m standing with my hands behind my head. It may look like the ultimate laziness, but it´s actually hard training. And it´s…
Have I no shame?
In The Assassin movie (with Bridget Fonda), one of my favorite scenes is one where she says: “I don´t get embarrassed”. (As in EVER!). Oh dear, how many times have I wanted to be like her. I practice and I practise. “I don´t get embarrassed” I say casually, when I feel the tightening of a knot in my stomach. “I don´t get embarrassed!” Despite all the practice, it was way out of my comfort zone to step on to the “Body Composition Analyzer” in order to let boxing trainer /…
Is that a bruise on my face?
I went to the hairdresser yesterday. As she washed my hair, she asked me: “Is that a bruise on your face, or did I just spill some purple shampoo?” I told her that I honestly couldnt´say. After training boxing for 2 weeks, I have become immune to pain. She looked mighty impressed. Spontaneously I started rapping like 50 Cent does in his song In Da Club: “Been hit with a few shells, but I don´t walk with a limp”. (If you don´t know, gangster rapper 50 Cent has been shot…
Risk and threats
“Why don´t anyone mention my athletic body?” I asked the group in front of me, while doing a simple SWOT-analysis of my goal to become a fighter. “Because we are talking about your strenghts, not your weaknesses” they laughed. I see. No sweat. No offence taken. I asked for it. Rude bastards. (As the photo illustrates, I can dodge a bullet with my eyes closed and my hands in my pocket, so just a little respect would be nice). When I asked what strengths they believe I possess, they quickly responded…
Pack like a pro…
According to the Catholic Church, envy is one of the 7 deadly sins. If you are envious, you will suffer a spiritual death and are doomed to eternal condemnation and ruin. Shit, pommes frites. It´s a good thing I am not Catholic, because I have a strong desire to master the skill of how to pack light, and I envy everyone that does. I remember the New Yorkerin who attended a wedding with me and how I picked her up at the Oslo S train station. She travelled from New York-Amsterdam-Oslo-Sweden,…
#I just write
I have made a discovery. My writing project 365 words every day for 365 days (2015), was in fact not that hard. It was a clear assignment that instructed me to just write something (with emphasis on SOMETHING). Every day. Simple as that. From January 2016 and until now, I have not given that project a lot of thought. And I have also not had any desire to write. But recently, that changed. And what do I discover? I am clueless on what to write about. And I don´t want to commit to blogging…
